Walker & Sutcliffe is hiring, looking for a Personal Tax Accountant to join its team.
Job Title: Personal Tax Accountant (Part-Time, Fixed-Term Contract)
Location: Huddersfield
Contract: 6 months (August 2026 – February 2027)
Working Pattern: 2–3 days per week
Walker & Sutcliffe is seeking an experienced, tax-qualified professional to support our Personal Tax team during a period of maternity cover and peak workload. This role is ideal for an individual with an eye for detail, enjoys reviewing work, strengthening quality, and supporting the development of others.
The Role
You will primarily be responsible for reviewing personal tax returns prepared by junior team members, ensuring technical accuracy, compliance and clarity before submission.
The role will include:
· Reviewing personal tax returns for a varied client base
· Providing constructive feedback to junior staff to build confidence and capability
· Supporting the wider team during peak Self Assessment periods
This is not a high-volume processing role. It is about maintaining standards, protecting client quality and supporting internal development.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Is tax-qualified (CTA, ATT, ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Has strong experience in personal tax compliance
- Experience in other taxes is desirable.
- Is confident reviewing work and providing clear, practical feedback
- Values quality over shortcuts
- Is comfortable working independently within a supportive team
